2014 Festival Programme

The 1st edition of Light Moves Festival took place in Limerick from 6-9 November 2014.

Programme Snapshot

Featured Screenings: Including screenings of Playtime directed by Jacques Tati (France, 1967), All This Can Happen directed by David Hinton (UK, 2013), and Russian Ark directed by Alexander Sokurov (Germany, 2002).

Shorts Screenings: Over the course of four days, Light Moves presented over six hours of shorts screenings at Dance Limerick and No. 69 O’Connell Street. With the exception of the works by Hertog/Nadler and Keim/Hecher all of these shorts were selected from the international Light Moves Open Call for screendance works.

Documentary Screenings: Including screenings of Håstdans på Hovdala directed by David Fishel (USA, 2014), Edits Film directed by Marisa Zanotti (UK, 2013), and Nation for Two directed by Chaja Hertog and Nir Nadler (France, Spain, Israel, the Netherlands, 2012).

Installations: A series of multi-screen installations at Dance Limerick Studio, 1 & 2 John’s Square, Limerick. A different artist’s work could be viewed each day and ran on a continuous looped cycle. Artists include Robin Parmer, Izabella Pruska-Oldenhof, Anna MacDonald and Alan Dormer.

Light Moves Symposium: Light Moves Symposium 2014 presented four paper sessions and a Keynote Address embracing practice, theory and analysis within screendance by Douglas Rosenberg (US). Participants include those responding to the Light Moves Open Call for papers and additionally via an invitation presented to the contributors of the Oxford Screendance Handbook released in 2015.

Cinedans Screening: A Special Screening presented in partnership with Cinedans.

Light Moves Screendance LAB: The Light Moves Screendance Laboratory is a forum for investigation in which interlacing strands of dance filmmaking are explored, unlocked and re-imagined.
